“Actually” Unique Cottagecore Activities

I had so much fun conjuring up this list and hopefully a few of them sounds interesting to you!
So my beautiful friend, here are 10 cottagecore activities, adventures, and outings to spark that beautiful imagination of yours!
Forage for Tea/Edibles
We did this a few months ago and it was SO fun! We researched what herbs, flowers, and plants we could safely and legally forage in our state and then took off to our local state forest! We live in a big city, and it was an hour away but totally worth it. In addition to foraging, we usually end up finding fun spots and cool animals while we’re out exploring. The excitement of “what’ll you’ll find next” is one of my favorite parts about adventuring in nature!
2. Start a Book Club
Have a fantasy book you’ve been wanting to dig into? Start your own book club girl! You can do it! You could simply start by asking two friends if they want to read the same book with you and chat about it chapter by chapter!
3. Unique Picnic Ideas
When you think of picnics, sometimes you have only one thing in mind. Food on a blanket outside. But you can get super unique with your picnic plans! Here’s a link to my other post about unique cottage core picnic ideas!
4. Horseback Riding - Even in Cities
This is a fun one! And yes, even if you’re in the city there are horseback riding places you can visit! Just use google to find them! Or… do you know any girls on Instagram who live in the same area as you and have a horse? Start a conversation with them and see if they’d be interested in meeting up for a horseback riding date.
5. Design a Custom Cottage Core Outfit
Have you ever been browsing Pinterest for cottage core fantasy outfits and suddenly wanted to design your own custom fit!? I will shamelessly plug that I sew custom Ren Faire/larp/cosplay dresses, belts and corsets that YOU can customize! You choose the fabric, colors, lengths, as well as give me your measurements. 6. Anne of Green Gables
I can’t think of a better cottagecore movie recommendation than Anne of Green Gables. Such a good series. If you’ve never watched it than go grab your chunky knit blanket, some tea, and press play! If you’ve seen it, then find a friend who hasn’t! I’m currently watching with my younger sister who’s never seen it.
7. Design a Cottage Core D&D Character
Even if you never plan on playing Dungeons and Dragons, building a character is still one of the best parts of playing the game. The creative freedom… the ability to create a unique character from your mind… it’s so fun! I’ve never considered building out a cottage core character and now I really want to sit down and design her! She would most definitely have a tiny white fox companion.

8. Craft a Handmade Cottage Core Gift For Someone
Crafting things for friends and family is one of my favorite things to do! Who’s birthday is coming up next? Is Christmas nearby? Pick someone and make them something by hand. It could be lavender sugar cubes, homemade marshmallows, a custom decoupage personality print, scented wax covered pinecone starters, a piece of art, or a preserved flower crown.
9. Plan a Ren Faire Trip with Friends! Create Backstories, Design Outfits, etc.
Time for an adventure! What have you always wanted to dress up like!? A fairy!? Pirate?! Cute cottage adventurer!? Pick some friends and just plan away! You could even come up with names and backstories for yourself! If you ever wanted to do some cosplay/role play… now would be the time!
10. Start a Side Hustle
I adore starting side hustles! The creativity and excitement that comes from having an idea and bringing it to life is just FUN! Maybe you’re bored and just want something creative to do… or maybe you have a goal of making extra money so you can cut down on your 9 to 5 job. That’s why I started Fox and Fern, my custom corset and fantasy brand. Because I hate my stressful construction job and want to change my life. And the hope that my little side business brought me… was unreal. So maybe a side hustle could turn into the same hope and dream for you! You’ll never know until you try it!
